Card and a half

Recently an adored friend of mine and the best card maker in the WORLD started a blog just for card makers, cardandahalf .  There are not enough inspirational blogs for card makers so this one fills the gap perfectly.  Helen will be providing a sketch challenge every month and thanks to generous sponsors will be providing a lovely gift for one lucky participant.  All you need to be in the running for the monthly prize is to participate.  You don't have to be the best, you don't have to use the latest products, you just need to take inspiration from the sketch, create your card and link it to the relevant post....love that!

Here is my creation from this months sketch:

I started with the yellow rose card with my beautiful Mum in mind (her fav flower and colour) and then created the other three cards because I got on a bit of a roll.

Mum received the card for her birthday last weekend and the other three cards are in my store A {she) State Of Mind.

I am going to try to do each months sketch challenge with family in mind who have a birthday coming up that month.  Fingers crossed all of my family receive a handmade card this year.  Thanks Miss Helen for your inspiration and gently kick up the butt I needed to get creating again!  Love you loads!

{She} launches at Etsy

After months of ideas floating in my head, being scribbled down in notebooks, being sketched in journals I have finally arrived on Etsy.  For those that aren’t familiar with Etsy, it is an online market place for all things handmade.  I have set up a little store on their site where I am selling my creations J  These include greeting cards, bags, journal covers, scarves and a few other sweet treats for the special women in your life.

To celebrate the launch of my store I am giving away a $30 gift voucher to be spent at A She State Of Mind.  To enter the giveaway simply check out A She State Of Mind and leave a comment on this post letting me know what your favourite item is.    Entries will close at midday on Thursday 26th May AEST.
You can also get yourself bonus entries by becoming a follower of my blog and/or searching on and “liking” the A She State Of Mind page on facebook.

Hugs

Hi and Welcome to A She State Of Mind

I have created this blog to share my thoughts, my recipes, my day to day week to week goings on and to keep you up to date with my Etsy store A She State Of Mind where I will be selling some of my creations.
A She State Of Mind (the name of this blog and my etsy store) was inspired by a gift I received from my husband and daughters, a book by Kobi Yamada called She.  This book is full of beautiful, inspiring and relevant words.  There is a sweet little bit of text on the inside jacket of this book that reads:

Who is she?  There are many ways to describe a woman.  Mother, daughter, sister or wife.  Student, teacher, leader or friend.  But the thoughts in these pages are not about titles or roles, they are about spirit and heart.  They are not about fame or acclaim, they are about caring and accomplishment.
Look around.  There are certain women in our world who have the gift of finding joy everywhere and leaving it behind them when they go.  You’ll usually find them immersed in their work, or slow dancing with their dreams, or making a difference for all those around them.   These are the women who can flood our souls with light and laughter...strength and courage...hopes and dreams.  It’s not just what they do that sets them apart, it’s how they make us feel.

She is someone gently but powerful.  Someone whose music washes away the dust of everyday life.  Someone who makes us laugh when we thought we would cry.  Someone who can pick up the pieces and give them back in all the right order.  Someone who pays attention to the little things and adds such beauty to the world.  Someone who cares.
We feel so lucky and so blessed to have these special women in our lives.  Its hard to express how we feel about them, but here’s something we can do: We can love them, affirm them, thank them and celebrate them.

I hope that over the coming weeks, months and years I can share with you my light and laughter...my strength and courage...my hopes and dreams.

Hugs
